Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Has Died in a Los Angeles Car Crash

Vince Zampella, who helped create the immensely successful franchise Call of Duty, has passed away in a traffic collision in California aged 55.

Zampella's death was announced by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, a game studio which he helped establish.

The celebrated industry figure died after his vehicle was involved in a crash and was engulfed in flames on a highway in Los Angeles on Sunday, according to.

"This is a heartbreaking loss, and our hearts are with his family and friends, those closest to him, and everyone impacted by his work," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
