The United Kingdom is set to progress with utilizing the full worth of frozen Russian funds to bolster Ukraine's defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a collective announcement, the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany asserted that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to participate in talks.

They clarified that the initiative would be carried out in close cooperation with the US.

UK restrictions have frozen more than £25bn of Russia's resources since Russia initiated its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, until now, money sent to Ukraine using Russia's funds had exclusively been sourced from gains and dividends earned on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their aim to advance efforts toward using the total worth of the immobilized Moscow's national funds to halt hostilities.

He added that additional restrictions soon would increase the strain on Moscow.

This statement comes after EU leaders convened in Copenhagen last week to debate using immobilized Russian assets for a 140-billion-euro credit to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, President Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to take or employ frozen Russia's holdings, as reported by media sources.

The worth of frozen Russia's funds in the EU is calculated to be approximately €211bn.

Leader Zelensky encourages UK's Sir Keir Starmer to join the Purl program

The Russian government executed extensive missile and drone strikes throughout Ukraine on that day, leading to electricity outages in significant regions of the capital city, Kyiv, and several other zones.

A pair of individuals were lost their lives and a minimum of 20 people were injured in the attack, the Ukrainian government reported.

In a post on X after the attack, Zelensky wrote that the premeditated assault focused on civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What's needed is not just talk but decisive action - from the US, EU, and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and implementing restrictions," he emphasized.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky declared, in a different message.

In the same period, Zelensky stated to media outlets he would press Sir Keir to participate in the weapons procurement scheme, under which alliance members buy weapons from the America to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the Britain's strong support for Ukraine, he noted it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the program, as well as impose further sanctions on Russia.
