Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for questions to be raised about his position following another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the team's poorest streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received a lot of support from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

Slot highlighted known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period like this with results like these.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
