Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The latest Far Cry title that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for embracing chaos and mayhem with the same excitement, all while weaving captivating, politically driven tales. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two creators whose projects have exemplified all of those things.

What to Expect

Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' format by featuring a different setting and cast of characters in each season.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and assistance.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every title is a interpretation of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the core of people through this intricate and turbulent lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and introduce our mutual irreverent, visionary approach to the television.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
