Fresh Particulars Emerge About the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the tragic demises of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
A Initial Report
As detailed in an account citing a confidential source, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the home. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
When she went into the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had gone with her then dialed 911. Afterward, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, as well as the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently detained and denied bail.
Disputed Reports
The confidential informant challenged several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.
Furthermore disputed circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement also extends to descriptions of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Timeline
Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
